Freshers tea
The annual ‘Freshers Tea’ is opportunity to meet and chat to the older and (arguably) wiser Corpus medics who have navigated the treacherous waters of MVST1A acquiring vast amounts of knowledge en route! With copious amounts of chocolate, tea and cake, the medic family at Corpus demystify what happens in the dissection room,  teach freshers the uniquely Cambridge lingo and decipher what FAB, HOM and MIMS really mean, because everything in MVST has a the three letter acronym! There is no better way to ask those burning questions about what textbooks to buy, eliminate any doubts or mitigate worries about the year ahead.
Meet the Dos Meal
Half way through Michaelmas is it LSM tradition to have a  ‘Meet the DoS’ meal. This is an informal evening where students and supervisors gathered together in Professor Howe’s room for pre-dinner drinks and refreshments before heading to a local restaurant to enjoy Cambridge’s culinary delights. This was a great opportunity to meet the pre-clinical and clinical DoS’s in an informal setting outside of supervisions and to get to know them as more than the incredibly intelligent academics who critique essays! With sparkling wine and sparkling company this event is a fresher’s favour in the LSM calendar.
Exam Term Tea
In the midst of what can be a hectic term, ‘Exam Term Tea’ provides medics from across the years a much needed excuse to escape the library and enjoy guilt free break from revision. With Tea, cake and kinder eggs in abundance; this is a chance to de-stress, catch up with friends and ingest enough sugar to power through long lights of revision. The older medics are on hand to pass on some much needed exam and reassurance. With fears quelled productive revision (and planning for May week) can begin!
The Annual Lewis Society Garden Party
The Annual Lewis Society Garden Party has been the opening event of May Week for Corpus medics since its inception 10 years ago. Held in the stunning Leckhampton Gardens, this informal social event brings together preclinical and clinical students, medical alumni, associated college fellows and supervisors. The garden party has become synonymous with an indulgent Mediterranean buffet, flowing Pimms and croquet, despite the unpredictable weather of the Great British summer! We hope that you will be able to join us on Sunday 18th June 2017, with a drinks reception from 12pm. The event is free for Corpus medical students & supervisors, £5 for students (non-medical) and £8 for alumni and their guests.
Medic Breakfast
Throughout the year, weekly Medic Breakfasts are held in the Pelican Bar, which is a chance to chat with the other undergraduate medics and enjoy some pastries and a cooked breakfast before dashing off to 9am lectures. It’s a great way to start the day and the prefect motivation to rise early!
Trip to Europe
The society continues to expand the variety of academic and social activities on offer. After 2016’s trip to the Charité Museum of Medical History in Berlin, this year we had another successful trip to Musée de l’histoire de la médecine in Paris. Click here to read more about the trip
